World Championship debutants Algeria, ranked 15th in the world, will take on world No. 17 Peru in the opening match of the FIVB Women’s World Championship Japan 2010 on October 29 at 12.30* in Tokyo following the confirmation of the schedule of the 16th edition of women’s Volleyball premier event by the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) on Tuesday.
The Pool A match will be followed by three other games at 13.30 with World Grand Prix, Olympic champions and 2006 World Championship silver medallists Brazil taking on Kenya in Pool B in Hamamatsu, Germany playing Kazakhstan in Pool C in Matsumoto and defending champions Russia taking on the Dominican Republic in Pool D in Osaka.
The FIVB Women’s World Championship Japan 2010 will feature a total of three games per day in each pool during the first round for a total of 12 games per day until the first round finishes on November 3 – including a bye on November 1.
Other key games on the first day see 2006 World Championship bronze medallists Serbia play Costa Rica in Pool A at 15:00 in Tokyo while 2002 world champions Italy take on Puerto Rico at 18.45 in Hamamatsu in Pool B.
Round two from November 6-10 consists of four matches per day in two pools, which will be based on Tokyo and Nagoya.
The semifinals will take place in Tokyo on November 13 before the final at 19.30 (local time) in Tokyo on November 14.
